Music Players & Schedule
Volunteer music players are needed for some of our sessions during the fall/winter season. Participants are paid $10.00 per session, regardless of the length of the session. One music player will be assigned per session, however two players will be assigned for the 7-day period prior to test days or major competitions (eg. EOSIC). In the event that two players are assigned, but only one attends the session, the fee paid will remain at $10.00.
If you would like to get involved, please contact Shannon Hunt, the WFSC Session Chair for details.
Important reminders for all music players:
- Follow the format for each skating session, as outlined on the front page of the pertinent section of the Music Players Binder;
- Follow the order of the list of skaters in the book, and the 'on deck' format when announcing each skater’s music;
- Announce the skater whose music you are about to play and also announce the next skater as 'on deck' and any coaches’ requests if applicable.
The above will help to keep music and skaters moving quickly when cycling through the music, as skaters will be prepared to start with minimal delay. In turn, this will ensure that as many skaters as possible will have their music played during the session. Once a player is called 'on deck', their music must be played unless waved off by the skater or their coach.
At the end of each session it is important to note the last skater to have their music played. Then, indicate at the bottom of the next sessions column, the next skater on the list, who will be the first skater to have their music played during the freeskate portion of that session. This promotes equality for all skaters.
